What is a Slot?

A slot is a narrow opening or groove. A slot can also refer to a time of day or the position occupied by an athlete in a game. The term is often used in combination with another word to indicate a specific place or time: He dropped the coin into the slot. A slot can be created by cutting, machining, or by using a tool such as a drill.

A time slot is a period of time when a radio or television programme is broadcast. It can also refer to the position of an airplane in a flight schedule.

There are many different types of slot games available online. Some slots are progressive and have jackpots that increase as people play them. Other types feature bonus rounds and free spins. Others allow players to choose the number of paylines they want to wager on or automatically bet on all. It is important to know what each slot has to offer before playing it.

When creating a new slot, you need to map it to a slot type. This helps the bot understand what information it should look for in the utterance. You can do this by clicking Add Slot Type in the left pane of the Dialog Editor. Choose a regular expression to create your custom slot type and click Save. You can also add synonyms for your custom slot type so that the bot will recognize multiple words and phrases when searching for a matching slot in an utterance.
